This is the operating system software for a Server. It is the Essentials version. It is great for a small business if you do not need Remote Desktop Access (the software). Learn from my error.

I bought this to go into a new server which was to be a File Server and run one application. The software (the application) salesperson said it ran best using RDS (remote desktop services). I called Microsoft and got confirmation that this OS software (Essentials) would indeed allow me to install the licensed version of RDS and all would work well.

After a painstakingly long week and many IT professionals, I gave up on using RDS and found a round about way to get the Application to work. Basically we installed the application software on each workstation and linked it to the Shared Folder on the Server.

Other things to note for you aside from RDS not working on Essentials:
