5.0 out of 5 stars Windows 8.1 for the experienced, April 26, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Windows 8.1 Pro System Builder OEM DVD 32-Bit (Software)
As an OEM product, the cleanly packaged and sealed disk arrives without documentation and requires a user with software installation experience able do the work independently. Product as advertised.

4.0 out of 5 stars Windows 8.1 OEM, June 18, 2014

8.1 is much better than 8.0. Overall I still like Windows 7 but this works. They should make the activation key larger for old people. I had lots of trouble reading it even with a magnifying glass. I blame Microsoft for this!!! Otherwise, it installed fine. I don't like the way it handles Skype. My username in Skype is one name and it works in Windows 7 and it works in Linux but will not work in Windows 8. I had to change my name in Skype to my hotmail account for it to work. Now I lost all my contacts when I am in Skype on Windows 8. It's good that 8.1 allows running a dual boot with Linux.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hate Windows 8, March 20, 2014

I thought I would give Windows 8 a try and it would make my computer run better. Windows 8.1 sux. We hate to use this computer now. I bought it because I have a HP TouchSmart 300 and I thought I would be cold to have the touchscreen. Well that didn't workout as planned, the touchscreen does not work with Windows 8.1. I tried everything to get it to work.

My next complaint is that you can't find anything using this operating system. It took me a day how to figure out how to use it. I consider myself pretty go on the computer so that is saying alot.

Next, Pandora One now skips every time we play it. It is very irritating. It never did this on Windows 7.

I did find a program called found Classic Shell and that does make it better, but it doesn't help the fact that the music skips, touchscreen won't work, and also he internal mail app is the worst ever. I wish I have never spend the money to upgrade my system. I could go on and on how much I hate Windows... Read more
